Strange Food

Peter's goal on this trip was to eat as many strange things as he could. So, at a Chinese souvenir market, he got his wish.

First he had that perennial favorite, fried scorpion kabobs. Just so you know, these cute little critters are still alive in this picture; they haven't been fried yet. Which means they're moving, trying to sting you, etc.:

Here's what Peter had to choose from. In this picture you can see starfish-on-a-stick, larvae-on-a-stick, scorpion-on-a-stick. Not shown, but available, is seahorse-on-a-stick:

Peter goes for it:

Of course, since Peter did it, we had to do it, too: Here we older brothers are asking each other, "Do we really have to do this?" The answer was, "Yes, unfortunately.":

Next Peter had a cute little baby bird-on-a-stick. I didn't get a picture of that, nor did we join him in trying it, as it was rather repulsive. He swore it was tasty.

Also on the list of strange things he/we ate: dog (tastes like dark meat turkey!) and donkey (a little chewey).

After Peter ate a hardboiled duck egg that had a black yoke, he was cured of eating strange things, for a while anyway. The egg gave him sores in his mouth, which could have been expected as it was BLACK, for crying out loud!
