"Home"

Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to announce the completion of my trip. I'm "home."

Thursday night I rode into South Lake Tahoe from Carson City, over Spooner Summit, and crossed the border into California. There my former pastor Mike and church band bassist Dennis met me. They got a hotel room for the three of us, and the next day we rode to Cool. A mere 120 miles, through some incredible mountain scenery. We got to Mike's house at about 9:30pm; we left South Lake at 6am.

From Cool it was another 22 miles to Colfax -- not an easy 22 miles, but after a week of 80-, 90-, and 100-mile days, 22 was nothing.

I rolled down my brother's driveway in Colfax, California at about 6pm on Saturday, August 2nd, putting my trip length at almost exactly 2 1/2 months -- which is what I had guestimated.

However, my odometer was only at 3,927. Almost 4,000. And I couldn't stop at almost, so I rode up to my parents' cabin in the Sierra Nevadas and back, putting me at 4,021 total miles pedaled.

Now I'm done riding for a while. I need to let my rear, and the rest of me, heal.

It will be some time before I can fully appreciate the enormity of this trip. I think I'm going to try to write a book. There's a lot that happened that I haven't shared here on the blog, for various reasons. A book is the best way to tell the full story of my adventures. So I'm going to try. It might take me a while, so don't expect it any time soon.

I'll post pictures when I can. I just wanted to let everyone know that I made it, in one piece and under my own power.

More soon...

I would add what it feels like when the child is carrying out a
tap dance in your bladder whenever you need to pee!

I adore the slide regarding the whooshing heartbeat audio.
..joyful music! I cry each and every time I hear it!

As well as the most incredible thing only pregnant women would know is
experience the baby kick for the very first time! Amazing!!
